I have a 1997 Max and the lights on the dash board are dim and they suck! Is there any way to get brigher lights? If so, how much brighter are they?

 

Do a search on Indiglo Gauges. Or look at Maximadriver.com and check out the info on the Indiglo Gauges there -- click on Mods, then click on the Styling Icon up top and go about half way down the resulting page.

 

I did this on my 95 max. I replaced the bulbs behind my gauge cluster. I used 5 BL Hybrid (polarg) size 194 for this, they are lil expensive but trust me its worth the money. they are like twice as bright now and gives brighter white light like those on the benz. you alternative is to get indiglo's....

 

You have two choice: 1st Crystal White from AIE $4.99 a pair(had them much than stock)
1st:Indiglos $ 70.00 ( have them also BRIGHTER that stock)

 

are we talking about the lights that illuminate the speedo and tach? i usually have to turn them down so that it is easier to look out the window at night..... the problem i have with them is that they arent exactly illuminating the gauges evenly -- its a shade dimmer at the 45-60 mph area..... is it hard to replace the bulbs? maybe the dim section is the shadow of the bulb?

 

Does anybody know what VW uses in their dash boards. I like the sharp blue they give off. I was woundering if it was the same bulb (194) so that i can go to a VW dealer and get a set..
