Passat 1.8T puts out 170hp when it was redesigned as an '01.5 model, Jetta & Golf 1.8T have 180hp

Before '01 the 1.8T had 150hp

I have a friend that owns a VR6 Jetta 5-Spd. I believe it is a 97. He won't run me, but from what he has told me the guy that owned it before him had all this work done to it.

All my friend has done to it is, put some 17s on and a catback. Sounds really nice, everybody says his car is the fastest at school. I'm still finding it hard to believe, I'm sure it's quick, but not the fastest. He barely edged out a Spec V. He won't take me on though.

He tells everybody that all he has is an exhaust. But a friend that I work with told me, he has an ECU upgrade and that the motor is Ported & Polished, from the previous owner. Not a clue, but all I know is he always makes up excuses when I say he should take me on sometime.

If you lost to a VR6 please dont race a boosted GT1. Youll get your feelings hurt. You lost to a VR6? oooh well get over it. Go buy a box of straws and suck it up. You should have bought a 5 speed you "ROCK"!

Anyone that says 1.8T's are slow doesn't know anything. You get a T-28 tubro from pes-tuning and they run 12.6 1/4 just from the turbo upgrade. Think if they had a intercooler ... Show me a maxima with a turbo upgrade alone that does that ....

Fellas i had a vr6 5 speed passat and to be honest with you, there not slow at all. Mine didnt have that much in her but once i was in 3rd she would take off like a bat out of hell. VW's are stupid cars cause they like to break down all the time and not to mention the parts that are beyond expensive. If there is one thing that can be said about a vr6, its dont f**k with her on the highway. Like the Max, they too have more torque then HP and at a much lower rpm.

im waiting to see how that new R32 VW does, i heard it is a beast. i would have rather seen it come with a boosted 4 cyl than a v6. that way with a boosted 4 cyl it would be right there with the WRX, EVO, STI, and any other AWD turbo car iin that price range. if tha intro price range stays around 29K i wouldnt understand why someone wouldnt just jump into an STI or EVO, i see em dirt cheap now a days, i saw an evo at $26K with 1,000 miles at a mitsu dealer.

well i remember i had a run with my home girls VR6 a while ago when she 1st got it. it was an older one and it said trek on it (what ever that means?)
we had three races and i got her all 3 times with my max, she had a 5 speed stock and i had a hacked air box. at 1st i had such a huge jump on her i thought she wasnt ready but every time she started up i had a jump on her, she just couldnt keep up and she's a pretty good stick driver (LOL @ stick driver) im not really impressed with VW, they seem to have too mny problems, esp electrically. im not even a fan of audi. i wouldnt sleep on a boosted+chipped VW but im not to concerned about NA VW.
