Need help.........wheels balanced twice..

My brother needs help with his 97 130t. It is a 5 spd and He has about 114k miles on his car and its basically stock until now. He recently got a y pipe installed and 2 weeks later the car shakes at 65 mph to 80 mph (Above 80mph the car dont shake). I checked the cv boot and the rotors and the tires been balanced twiced! I dont know what is wrong with the car! Does anyone know?

You lost a weight off of one of your wheels, that exact thing happened to me, and I took it in for a day, I don't remember what exactly they did, but thats what they told me. Wheels have weights?

Yes, wheels have weights.

Same thing happened to me with my 4th Gen Max, I think the problem actually ended up being a broken steel belt in one of the tires.

If he had the wheels balanced twice then a wheel weight is not missing.

It could be a number of things, but I don't think it has anything to do with the Y-pipe. If the tires are balanced and aligned then I would start looking at the front end parts.

The same thing happened to me. Pull the wheels and rotors and check your calipers. This car is known to blow through calipers. I just replaced mine this saturday and all the shake and noise is gone. When the caliper blows it usually gets stuck in a active area meaning it has preassure on it against the pads and that will cause heavy vibration, noise and fuel consumption. I hope this helps.

I had mine balanced and they still shook also. I finally jacked the car up and discovered that two of them were about 1/16 to a 1/8 inch out of round. So it looks like I'm going to be buying new tires before the next big trip we go on
