how much leather in a leather interior?

so i bought magic erasers and lexol cleaner and conditioner. the magic erasers were not as dramatically awesome as i thought they would be. theyre really good for marks on your rubber panels and stuff, but on the leather seats, it didnt seem THAT great. still, i look now and theres major color difference between the seats ive done and havent. i will try using just the lexol cleaner and give an update.
i havent used any other conditioner, but this lexol leather conditioner is EXCELLENT. highly recommended. not expensive either, i picked it up at a horse stuff shop.

I have black leather interior and the only parts that are not real leather in mine are the backs of the seats. You can tell from the feel of it. It is pleather though, and it can still benefit from the conditioner.
I have the perforated leather because of the SE-L package, and I have always used the Meguiar's Leather Cleaner/Conditioner. It works great for me! I just massage it into the leather with my hand like you would a baseball glove, and then let it sit on there for a little while. I come back later and wipe it down with a rag, and it is so soft.

True! The Maxima leather is pretty tight and low grade. That was one of the reasons why I bought a blue max with new high quality custom leather instead of the black on black with fewer miles. The interior is much softer, thicker, and all around better.

I don't know about SELs, but on my 99 SE the sides of the seats are definitley fake as well as the back. The only real leather parts are the surfaces that you sit on (bottom and back) plus the front headrests, which appear to be leather all the way around.

Judging from the comparison to the front seats I would assume that the part your @ss touches is real and the lower back. I can't tell if the headreast is because mine is hard from sun damage. Depending on Nissans philosophy at the time it could be real or not. Leather is much more resistant to the oils in hair which is why the front headrest is real. I'm also interested in the I30's. How much of those are real?
Also, someone please explain why you should waste money using leather conditioner on Pleather. Maybe I'm missing something but Pleather is plastic, aka vinyl, which does not has a much less organic base. Plastic is petroleum based right? and therefore doesn't require the organic nutriets. Correct or no? I agree that it requires a good UV protectant and if you want, something to make it shine but not actual nutrients.

I use Vinylex on vinyl (works great - removes dirt you wouldn't expect, has an effective sunblock, leaves a matte finish), and Connolly leather conditioner on the leather. The Connolly conditioner is WAY more expensive therefore I don't want to waste, however it is petroleum based as well. As a heads up, both of these products work very well with the leather/vinyl in Maxima!

Has anyone ever tried K-Y Jelly or Vaseline on their leather? Or baby oil or one of those "personal lubricants"? I find I get the best sensation from K-Y and a little baby oil, but only on the real leather parts.
