Ashtray issue

My ashtray won't open. It seemed a bit misaligned and now it doesn't open at all. Is there an easy fix for this? It seems like I would have to take the dash panel off to get to the moving parts.

well i would take out the shifter boot (not sure on an auto) once you have it out, take a phillips head screw driver and look for a small black screw on the left of the ash tray. you might have to lay sideways in the seat to spot it.

once you have that screw out, pull on the ashtray and pop it out (o somekind of little wire you will need to unplug) but after that maybe you can better identify the problem.

good luck ! hey maybe its jammed packed with money and cant open ?

This was the case with my ashtray... the bracket had broken off the one side so it wouldn't close straight. Once you unscrew and remove the assembly as Ceasar described, just get a new one from a junkyard. I switched mine with the one from my dad's 95.
