antenna maintenance

strange, but my antenna needs maintenance... the rubber seal around it is all melty and squishy. is it supposed to be like that, or does it need to be replaced? also, it makes a lot of noise going up and down. i used some wd40, but its still pretty loud. what do you use to grease it?

hey man, its fine to use wd40....I usually use Starrett M1... basically the same stuff. As long as you keep the telescoping antenna clean and lubricated, it should be of no concern. the antenna is kinda noisy.....i can hear it clearly in the car when i'm parked. Good luck with it
