car stereo wiring

I am wondering, how I can tap into the fuse box to get a 12v power source to turn on my amp. I am guessing I need to tap into an ignition fuse. But how do I know if a fuse is 12v? DO all fuses provide a 12v power source? What kind of fuses does the interior fuse box use? I have several fuses labled ignition but each one has different amp ratings. Does it matter which one I tap into? Do I only tap into the positive side of the fuse? How do I actually do the tapping and what parts are needed. To this tap I want to connect a power wire to turn on an amp. I know I could tap into the antenna, but I am curious how to do it through the fuse box. THanks
