Got into accident...with a cop!!

Was driving to go get some gas and there was a cop in front of me. He slammed on his brakes and I was coughing and by the time I noticed, it was too late and I slid into the back of the cruiser. I'm ****ed, I feel like I want to kill someone. I already totalled one maxima, and now I just crashed this one. I'm hoping it won't be totalled and I can just get a new bumper and a carbon fiber hood. Please let me know what you guys think. The airbags didn't go off or anything. And there is nothing wrong with the fenders or anything else.

Please tell me what you think, do you think that it's totalled or not?

Totaled? I barely see any damage.

That's just a fender bender. From what I can tell, you need your support beam replaced and your latch fixed.

I had a similar accident and got it all done for $400.

When your car looks like this, then you can say it's totaled:

Is the bumper still in good shape? Is it cracked anywhere?? Otherwise I think you're fine. You can just get the bumper repainted and refitted. New hood, grill, and fix the minor stuff. Shouldnt be too bad honestly, ive seen worse. Headlights in good shape?? I cant tell from the picture, but just get the brackets replaced/adjusted.

I highly doubt its totalled. Unless theres hidden engine damage, but thats unlikely.

He is saying that he has ALREADY totalled a maxima before this current one.

Umm doesn't look bad, glad no one was hurt.

The bumper is in good shape, the paint is just scuffed up. But the bumper was pushed down about an inch or two. And the hood was bent in half, I fixed it a bit. The hood doesn't even come close to the latch, that whole beam was pushed back. I'm just worried about frame damage or anything, The engine wasn't touched and it runs perfect.

That sad thing is that you will be held responsible for this. The insurance won't care that you were coughing because you took your eyes off the road and the'll say you were following to closely. Front end accidents are hard to get around unless you have proof (pictures) that will prove your case.

The cop was cool about it. He was just like "accident's happen". He was going to give me a ticket but a cop buddy I know told him not to, so I didn't get one. It was really fast, and the cops were cool about it. But up goes my insurance again. I ****ing hate this ****.

What do you guys estimate the price of fixing it will be? And is there any way to go through this without the insurance getting involved. I know there's prolly nothing I can do about the cop. He will def go to the insurance. But I wish I could just pay for it and not have to pay surcharges.

damn, you hit a cop and didnt even get a ticket, you lucky bastard

it really doesnt look all that bad, all you need is a new CF hood ~$400, new grill (get it from someone on here or something for cheap), repaint your bumper ~$100, and get that cross member replaced. could have been much worse. and next time dont follow cops so close

I got my grill, after I hit him, I popped my hood and my grill fell off. My dad and I just pulled the cross member up and got my hood as straight as it can go. It doesn't look too bad other than I don't have a grill. But I don't know what I'm going to do. I planned on selling the car after the summer. The college I'm going to doesn't allow freshmen and sophmores parking. So I was going to leave my car at home. But the value of the car would drop so much. So I was going to sell my car and put the money away until I got out of college, and use it for a down payment on a car. Like a WRX or G35. But now I don't know what to do. My car will probably have accident on the title so it will be worth nothing. But I don't want my car to sit for 2 years. BUT I now have the chance to buy a CF hood and maybe a m-bumper?

I don't know what to do, what do you guys think?

you'll be fine with this one. sucks that you got into an accident with the cop, and your insurance company is probably gonna nail you to the wall for this one.

but at least you dont need another max or anyone getting hurt. sorry bro

Sorry to hear about that, man.
Glad you are okay.
There are worse things that could happen.
Good luck with the repair.
