How do you advance the timing?

I was wondering if there was anyway to advance the timing on a 96 max w/o buying a new ecu. I don't think there is but it cant hurt to ask i guess

Nope. Its all computer controlled like all other distributerless igniton cars.

True, I just figured id ask cuz i know it can be done on the 300zx by the turn of a **** but if it was possible on the maxima im sure i would've read about it somewhere by now. Thanx

It IS possible to advance the base timing on some newer distributorless engines, such as the VQ35. I don't know exactly how though. PM SR20DEN for the details. He has done this on his 3.5 Maxima...

I beleive you are correct there may be some special ways to do it with a DIS. I recall a crustang Gt I saw that had a special harmonic balancer to do it, but who cares its just a mustang.

No, its a billet timing adjuster that attaches to the crankshaft pulley.

LOL, is that the same "chip" that supposedly adds 20hp from those bogus Pieces of **** sellers on ebay? sounds pretty similar to me, and if thats the case, then someone should take this guys car from him.
