Do it with a friend and it's free! At the most, a shop should charge you 2 hrs labor.

Struts?

Do i need to get new struts? Im probably just getting sprint lowering springs, like 1.5 drop or somthing. I dont think (?) i need new struts, unless there is a damn good reason to do so. Lowersprings will only be on a few months per year.

It would be advisable to get new struts since the stock struts won't last you too long with lowering springs. Do you plan on taking them off every year? That seems like a lot of trouble especially since you'll need an alignment everytime you put them on or take them off. Just like metallic97gxe said do the struts and springs at the same time and save yourself some time and $.

Dont a lot of places do free alignment? There is no way in hell i could be lowered in the Maine winter. That just would not work at all, ya know?
So my struts will just die? I dont get how?? How much are new struts? And what are so much better about them? I dont understand any of this lowering stuff. I never thought i would lower, but then i started thinking about rims... damn this disease =)

On my 93 the best price i found was 180, so this time i will probably do it myself. Where did you guys get it done for 75. At that cheap, I might go and get I done to save on time.

I've never heard of free alignments? That's a new one for me? Most places charge for alignments. I guess you could become a snow plow in the wintertime but it still seems like a lot of work to keep having to install and uninstall springs every year. As far as the struts go, you can still get by with the stock struts there are a lot of people who have and are, even I but they were not made as stiff to handle the drop as aftermarket shocks are and thus your ride will become very harsh. Your stock struts may last you forever and you may even be satisfied with the ride but I recommend getting new struts because the ride is very harsh.

Maybe i was wrong about free aligment =)
So can i keep these after market struts on all year round, in MAINE. Also, how much are new struts. Are struts like the konni things people always talk about? As i said, i know nothing about this crap =)

Ya you can keep your stock struts as long as you keep in mind that you will be losing a lot of ride quality. New struts won't bring back the ride quality back to stock but will definitely handle the drop better since they are stiffer. Another option you might want to consider would be getting coilovers. They can give you the adjustability you desire. You can have your car stock height during the winter and lowered the rest of the year. Cattman, Ground Control and WeaponR all make coilovers. Cattman coilovers are the only "true" coilover kits available for the maxima and are composed of springs and struts while the other two are just springs with modified spring perches which allow you to adjust the height with a few turns of the adjustable collar. Look into those they may be what you need to save you the trouble of having to install and uninstall the springs every year. If you want I can point you into those directions.

hmmm

That sounds interesting!! Very intersting in deed =).
Im guessing the true coil over kit is $$$ and after buying rims i wonthave that. So maybe some used ground control or WeaponR "coilovers". With those, there is just a simple thing i screw or unscrew? Do i have to put my car up on jacks to do this? Tell me all about, and maybe some prices new, and what i should expect to pay. If cattmans are THAT much more, maybe ill go that route. Fill me in.
Thanks alot

Whcih coilovers have the best ride quality, and where is the
cheapest place to buy?

You're right the Cattman's are very pricey ~$1200. The GC's and WeaponR's are around $300-$400. Here are some websites and a couple of searches from the forums you can check out:
