'99 Max Running Poorly: Plugs? Electrical?

Hey, need some help here. My 55K '99 SE-L started missing about 2 months ago. Dealership said maybe a bad ignition coil and to wait until it got worse but it hasn't, just runs pooly, accelerates in a jerky manner but still has speed. When idling it's worse when in gear w/ the AC on.
The ECU kicked out a 3rd cylinder misfire code so I had the ign. coil replaced but it's still the same. Dealership now thinks maybe new plugs will help and as I'm approaching 60K I figure it can't hurt. They also thought mybe a break in the electrical?

Anybody thoughts? I remember seeing a thread similar to this months ago but can't find it...
Thanks all.

have you had any codes pulled since replacing cylinder 3 coil? ive seen as many 99 post in here as 2k and early 2k1 post in the 5th gen forum. your best bet if you have another coil failure is to replace the original 5 and replace the plugs depending on their condition. going to the dealer could be extremely expensive when you could purchase all 6 coils shipped for around 300 and do them yourself. you can contact dave b @ 888-254-6060 for a quote and pick up a haynes manual and this can become a simple DIY repair.

If you want to check for codes yourself: http://vbxmaxima.8m.com/ecu.html.

Thanks for the tip -- will consider doing all the coils after I get new plugs. It does't seem to get any worse though, just on and off so hoping new plugs will do it.

My '99 doesn't have that big flat head adjustment screw, you need a tiny screwdriver and stick it in a small hole. Somebody suggested just going to AutoZone, they'll pull the codes for free with a diagnostic tool and even give you a print out. I think that's the easiest way to go.

Thanks BKLYN -- will try that tomorrow. Will change the fuel filter too.
