y pipe install/ worried about o2 sensors

getting my y-pipe installed with mangnaflow cat, and ive been hearing a lot of stories about people's o2 sensors going bad after the install. a mechanic down the block said that my o2 sensors are still good, but he doesnt know how long they have been on, or how long they will continue to do its job. my question is, after i get the y pipe on, will i need to get o2 sensors? or is that sometimes a human error?

thanks!!

You won't need to get new sensors as long as you keep them clean and don't hit them against anything.

I didn't have to but you might want to be very careful when installing them back on the aftermarket pipe.

Swap them from old to new with the pipe off the car. Requires disconnecting the harness. This will lessen the likelihood of damaging the sensor or harness.
Did you ever play that game "Operation"... well when installing them back into the new pipe you want to be sure not to hit the threads with the sensor end and pick up any anti-seize. It may be the reason you are seeing so many posts about O2's going after a pipe install.

I just did my install myself, and I didn't use any anti-seize or anything else for that matter on the threads, and it was rather painful to install them w/o disconnecting hte harness (next time around I probably would). My front two went fine, and still work great, though my rear one did get bent, and I actually ended up zip-tieing to a support beam, and I plugged the hole with a used PCV valve out of a 90-96 300ZX, ended up having perfect threads lol. Just to make sure, I sealed it up with some exhaust patching crap. It looks pretty funny.
