Various Maxima Questions

I just have a few questions. First of all, I have a 98 Maxima 5spd. It has a Stillen Rear Section, clear bumper lenses, and red/clear tailights. As you guys can see, my max has many mods....

Anyway, here are my questions:
1. I am interested in buying an intake, but I am not sure which one to get? Stillen, Injen, Place, or a cheap one off of ebay. I really like the Injen, but i'm not sure if it's worth 270+, but I may be wrong? If any one has a Injen on thier max, could you please let me know how it sounds and if the hp gains were evident after it was installed. Speaking of installation, is it easy to intall the Intake given that I am not experienced with performance mods or any mods at all. About how long will it take if I were to do it, given that this is going to be my first performance mod installation.

2. Which short shifter is the best for 4th gen maxima. As all of you guys probably know, the stock shifter feels like a boat shifter? In addition, are shifters easy to install and what is this problem that i hear about the O2 sensor and the catylic converter when installing a shifter?

3. Now, this question is not about any mods. Two months after I installed my Stillen Rear Section, when ever i have the car in a higher gear, and i floor it...the rpm goess up, comes back down and then goes up again. FOr example, if i am crusing at like 40 miles an hour in 3rd gear at about 2.5 rpm...and I floor it, the RPM goes up past 3, comes back down to 2.5 and then the car starts to accelerate. What could be the problem. IS MY CLUTCH SLIPPING?

Thanks a lot for your input

1. I would think that all intakes would be the same due to the fact that most if not all just give a mininal gain in the high or low rpm range. If i were you just get a CAI from ebay and save your money.
2. Stillen STS rocks...i have one for my car. It was easy to install but took a while cuz it was my first time doing this kind of install. Line up a saturday or sunday afternoon for it.
As for the cat it is in the way of installing the short shifter, you have to get that out of the way. It shouldn't be so hard to uninstall: 5 mins at the most.

that is the exact test I have read to see if your clutch is slipping...flooring it in higher gears...and rpm go up without increase in speed...I haven't had personal experience with it though...anybody want to comment??

Can anyone confirm if this problem is due to the clutch and how much it would possibly cost to repair? Please HELP!

I think once I get some money, I'm going to buy a Place Racing CAI. Go to custommaxima.com and check out some sound clips of this. Pretty beastly.

From my experience, the clutch is definatly slipping.

I had this happen back in august and had to get a new one. My symptoms were exactly the same as yours. If you don't fix it, the problem will happen in lower gears. Then it will be difficult to move at all!

What does it mean to have the Clutch bled?
Moreover, where can I get a complete STOCK clutch for a 98 SE MAXIMA and how much would the kit cost?
