Code Reading

Code Reading
95 Nissan Maxima SE 111k. Forgive the potential naiveté of this question. It appears my knock sensor has gone the way of the earth, I am ready to proceed with the replacement procedure but was hoping just to double check by way of code retrieval. My question is... (this is where you may think me to be a complete idiot) does my 95 Maxima SE have a built in Code reader that will digitally display the codes or do I need to hook up an external code reader to retreive the codes? I am curios to know what other codes will be on their other than the knock sensor. If an external code reader is required...do any of you have a reccommendation for where to purchase one and a particular brand (keeping costs in mind of course). Thanks.

I read the FAQ and am still unclear. It is a great resource on everything else though.
