air bag installation.

well Id have to look at the back of the steering wheel on my max.
I had a dodge and it was around the same year of my max and its easily a 1 man job. Just look behind the steering wheel, you should get some clues there.
Also disconnect the battery for an hour or so before working on the air bag.

remove battery terminal for at least 15 mins. we waited 45 to be safe
pop the cover off of the cruise control
remove cruise control, think there were 2 screws on the side
on the left side, i think there is another cover, remove the cover and screws
there may be a few screws on the back of the steering wheel (not sure bout this)
then the cover should come off
unplug the airbag. just in case, i would stand off to the side incase it explodes
remove the airbag. you may need a torx wrench to remove it
installation is the opposite.
this is from what i remember. this was a long time ago, so i may have forgotten a few things. it is a DIY, just be careful.

Its easy...I just changed my driver and passenger side airbags. What KANAKA said is right, but 15 mins should be good enough and there is only 2 blots you need worry about(once you get the cruise control off). They tool you would need looks like a star with a hole in the center.
For the passenger side you need to take off the glove compartment first (phillips screws) then there are 2 of the same type bolts that are on the driver's side. There are also I think 2-4 more bolts which I hear are a PITA to get to.( I didnt have to worry about those because the airbags I had did not have those other bolts on)
Also if you airbags have deployed your airbag light is probably a solid red right now, and you have to get your airbag module replaced.

yes the light is solid red. i will probably buy the ones on ebay. my interior is black but the black set on ebay is $500 and the gray set is only $200 right now. does anybody know what kind of paint to use to paint the gray ones black?
also, thanks so much for the info and help.
