windshield replacement

A small rock hit my windshield while I was on the highway and it made a small crack. A day later the crack got bigger, and I think its going to kepp going. How much can I expect to pay for a new windshield with isntallation? is there any way I can stop the crack from getting bigger?

$140-$400 for a brand new replacement, including installation.

Thats quite a range I would expect it to be at the higher end of that range... ~400-500 bucks installed.

I paid 360 w/o tax on my first one 2 yrs ago, an recently 145 w/o tax on my most recent one about 3 months ago, so that's my experience.

If I could get mine done for 145+tax I would jump on it .. i don't have any cracks/chips - but there are so many fine scratches from a those automated car washes (not me - the previous owner) that I get so much diffracted light/glare at night with oncoming traffic that its hard to see! Add rain to that mix and its really bad.

450, 500......Thats cheap, when I hit a pedestrian(dudes head went right throught my windshield, long story) It cost 650!!!!! and had to be custom cut out of a big single piece of glass. Took about five days for them to get it done.

I dont know. I took it to a nissan dealership to get it done( insurance paid for it) so they would use genuine nissan parts, and was surprised cause that was one of the three most expensive things on the bill.

Dude, please tell me you have a low deductible for your insurance? If it is pretty low, I would do it through them, and then you will not be out all that.
That is why you have insurance.

I think you ought to be able to get one for less than your deductible of $250. If it looks like it is going to be more, just use the insurance.

Yeah I would have paid for the window if it was less than the deductable, but thier was some body work too. The hood was fuked and so was the passenger quarter panel.

You guys didint miss anything I just never told you about any of my accidents( yes there is more than one)

The pedestrian one was right after I got my car, like three weeks. I was in high school and I began to get a good feel for the car. one day, My friend had a 92 se and decided he was going to get next to me and take off. So I droped it in second and smoked him. I was going like 60 and started to slow down. Just then like three kids ran across the street. I missed two of them but I guess the fat one I hit couldnt get out of the way. I hit him going about 20. His head went into the windshield face first, and he bounced unto and over my hood. His knee is what hit my quarter panel. After I stoped I got out of my car and actually ran to the front of my car to see the damage befor I went to the kid. When I saw the kid his face was fuked, and thier was a pool of blood like he got shot in the head. Any way the ambulance came and said his nose and jaw were in pieces, and his knee was dislocated. Then the cops came to talk to me and said it was his fault cause he wasnt using a crosswalk.

Thats the jist of it. Hope you enjoy. Oh and I have pics, but they are paper, and I dont have a scanner. Sorry.

Dang, dude. That is a scary story! If you would have killed that kid, you would have been tried for vehicular manslaughter. That is some serious stuff!

You are just not right checking on your car before you check on the kid. ha ha ha
