If you don't have ABS, this will be one time you are glad that you don't. If you do, you'll wish you didn't. I've had both and the ease of changing it is night and day difference between the two.

And how do I know if I have ABS? Is it in the VIN somewhere?

Cheers

Another tip: Remove the air intake before you try this - it makes it much easier - still a pain.. its no so much getting to the clamps, its trying to pry the hoses of the old filter that ends up being much harder than expected...

Do you have an ABS light on your instrument cluster that lights up (and then turns off) after you start your car...

Cheers!

Just checked, and there's no ABS light...

Why would it make a difference?

The ABS regulator is mounted near the fuel filter - making it even harder to get your hands around the filter and hoses...

I don't know why it doesn't say this in the directions on that site but make sure you PULL OUT the filter from the bracket that's holding it. In the picture on that site it shows that the bracket is connected on the firewall and it hold the filter. Pull the filter out and you'll have enough slack in the lines that you can turn the filter upside-down to get to the bottom hose. It's a 5min job if you have no ABS.

yera take the air resonator box off it makes it 100x easier.....i used a 300zx twin turbo filter o n my maxima in which only makes it last longer. they are the same price about.

make sure you depressuize this syste, and wear some ****ty clothes cuase you will get gas on yourself. it is a bifg ***** to get the tubes off on the filter.

when you do it take a flat head screw drive and wadge it under the hosewhere it conected to the filter and twist ti so that the tubes loosens. it take alittle work but once you are done you will relize it was pretty easy. just a confied space is the only ting keeping you back.

This job is seriously a huge pain in the ***. I don't know if I'm just an idiot, but I spent like 2 hours trying to get the old one off. Once I did get it out, I threw it across the street and yelled some bad words at it...

Getting the new one om isn't so bad. Just make sure you have a short stubby screwdriver, it's easier to get off the top clamp. The bottom one you can use a longer one sinc you can twist the filter to get easier access to the bolt.

God I can change pretty much anything in this car but the damn fuel filter always ****es me off. I'll get someone else to do it next time.

Yea I replaced mine for the first time this week. Ive got an auto, w/ abs, everything. you can only imagine how much space I have to work with. Getting the hoses off was the worse part, I was tearing up my arms getting that thing off. Plus I love how gas went everywhere when i pulled the bottom hose off. I did all the steps to depressurize the system, but there was still alot of gas in there. I got realy frustrated with it, but oh well, its done.
