Ecu 95 Se

Looking for some help from some good people.

This is my first time hear.

First off, my car is awesome at 204 thousand miles. I believe the ECU may be going out.

It's engine light has been on for a few weeks then before I could get it in the shop it was dying on me before I could go one block.

The guy said 4 or 5 codes came up when he checked it with the computer. So he said he thought it was probable the ecu and recommend that I take it to the dealer.

If it is the ecu do you guys know where I can get one from somewhere else besides the dealer?

You could probably get a one alot cheaper at a junkyard or check www.car-part.com. What codes are you getting? If you don't know, read the faqs...they tell you how to check codes and lots of other useful things.

Code list: P0115, P0150, P0325, P0125, however, after the guy checked all the potential problems associated with the codes he didn't think it would cause the car to die. Then after it died on him he reset the computer and he said got a different code, so I really think the whole computer is going out.

Any thoughts are greatly appreciated.

Fix the problems associated with the codes. Your crazy to replace the ECU without looking at what it's telling you is wrong with your engine.

ECU's don't slowly die, they work or they don't. ECU's rely on the sensors that feed it information. If the information is currupt, the ECU cannot do it's job. At 200+K miles, your engine's electronic sensors are starting to show their age. Replace the sensors or fix the problems your ECU is allerting you to.

A Haynes shop manual would be a good investment for you at this point. It will tell you what the codes mean and will help you trouble shoot systems on your car.

ECU replacement. 2 low cost options.

DO NOT JUST GO GET ONE FROM THE JUNKYARD. There are very important factors when replacing the ECU. You can actually do more damage by installing the wrong one.

There is an OEM number on the ECU itself, should be on a bar code and may start with an "A" Most times its on the ECU 2 diffrent places.

I recommend these guys. http://www.autoecms.com They have a crumby website however they have alot of ECU's in stock and have great customer service. Only 299 for a certified, guarenteed ECU. Good buy.

Other company is www.ecudirect.com
They are runned by AutoCraft, so they contract some small shop in IL to do the work. They have a very limited supply of import ECU's, most times they just refurbishe your unit for 239.00 but it takes them 2 weeks and horriable customer service.

Good luck
