Boss: Ya musta missed my above post: The Ludalip has been installed. I used 2 rolls of Scotch Exterior mounting tape. That stuff is real sticky. I'm not going to screw into my bumper.

That tape is really really sticky. And it would take alot of force to remove it. Its like the same stuff you use to attatch ventshades and such. I bought everything at Home Depot.

Oh and no mesh....had it in the 96.....dont like it. Looks dumb. Sorry.

On a bad note it deforms on the highway, so I had a brain fart. I was thinking of using some metal bent in the shape of the bumper and attatching it to the bottom/back of the lip. Maybe 1/4" threaded rod or something. Also I want the lip to stick out so i was also thinking of making bracketts that push the bottom of the lip out. I pulled on the lip and got an idea of how it would look. Maybe I could use the existing screws and hole that secure the plastic splash guards to the underside of the bumper. I'd make a frame of some sort. I'll mess with it and tell you how it goes.

GHETTO-RIFFIC

took me like 2 minutes to install the *****, just unrolled the 3M sticky tape onto the bottom of the bumper and then put the molding **** up... i really dont see it surviving my 25 mile commute to work everyday held on with just tape so i think i'm gonna use a few screws just to make sure its stays on... i can tell you for a fact though that this **** will bend at higher speeds. i'm thinking about going back to Home depot and picking up some of the shorter matrial to stick on the back of the bigger lip to stiffen it up

for anyone who cares the exact distancce around the bumper to the wheels is 74"

sorry but there wont be pics cause i still dont have a camera however there might be some after the saturday meet here @ SWA in PHX

i just had a great idea on how i could stiffen mine up: i work at a warehouse where we use this expanding foam stuff to package huge computer monitors and CPU's... i could make a mould out of cardboard and inject this stuff behind the lip to get it more rigid

i'll give it a shot at work tomorrow if i have the time

UPDATE: went back to home depot and found the perfect solution to the flexing problem. i got these metal strips about 4ft long in the framing section and used the same 3M tape to stick them to the inside bottom of the lip. its much stiffer now though it will still bend out of the way if you hit a curb or smthing. we'll see how it holds up going to work tomorrow cuase on my 3 minute trip to home depot it was all wrinkeld up from the wind

P.S. the driveway already took a little chunk out of the lip

In my own opinion, I think the 4" is a bit ricey and doesn't conform to the rest of the front end appearance....I cut it down to a 2.5" height and mounted it to my 95. At Home Cheapo, I bought a few thin stips of slotted sheet metal (near key machine in hardwre aisle) and screwed those along the front bottom of my bumper. Then I Scotch double taped the molding onto the strips. Strong as He-Man and pretty attractive. Pics when I find out who stole my digicam. Takes a little patience when bending the metalstrips but I think that it will hold up to high speeds without warpage. Later.

I have to disagree that it looks rice. IMO it looks more like stock to me.

I was thinking of using aluminum flashing that comes in a roll at Home Depot. Cut to fit the molding and tape it to the underside. Now that I think of it it might not help as its kind of flimsy too.

Quite interesting. I like the way it looks when cut down to like 2-3" on the red maxima. I may attempt this for the hell of it, but without using any screws.

Hey i was looking around in my classes today in school and everywhere I see LudaLips on the walls, I never thought of that before. I seen the 3 inch and the 4 inch version, they both come only 4 feet long, I was soooo tempted to take a piece and go home and try it out asap, lol.

I don't think it looks bad, but I'm bummed out at the same time. It's hard to believe our beautiful 4th gens have reached that level where "ghetto" mods look good. Is anyone thinking of painted their lip? I'd like to see it body color.

I have another idea to support the lip. 1/4" copper tubing....yes the same thing for ice makers and what not for refridgerators. Since I install appliances this stuff is easy to come by. Ill try doing it tomorrow. Should be easy to do, its flexible but pretty sturdy stuff. If its not strong enough ill try bigger tubing.

someone should try it all the way around the car, just hold it up with duct tape or spomething just to see how it looks.

Bodykit for under $10..........sounds like a scam on Ebay

Not to ruin the party here, but this is terrible. Maxima deserves some respect, not $10 body kit made out off floor molding, that deforms at highway speed. To me this is like putting those chrome hubcaps on your car.
To each his own I guess. Sorry if I'm putting it down, just my opinion.

if you stiffen it it doesnt deform on the HWY at all... i checked it out today

and yea this is a bit rice but i'm just doing this till i can get my hands on an M-type bumper...

i also suggest anyone who is planning a stillen lip or whatnot put this on their car as a 'training' lip to figure out what types of **** you will hit with it... i've had mine on for a day and its already all scrached up, if this was a stillen lip i'd be pretty ****ed but with this **** i just dont care

Now these are the kind of posts I was expecting from the org.

How is this any different from other d-i-y mods on the org like red-clears and mesh grilles? Its a temporary thing, my car is no show car or trailer queen. I use it to get around and this is perfectly fine for me at the moment, especially considering how little I spent. but yea diff strokes for diff folks.

btw maximas dont necessarily deserve THAT much respect...family car with a nice engine.

Exactly...I doubt any of us are keeping this lip forever...its like a stepping stone. In the meantime those that are strapped for mod $$ have this option if they want.

This summer I will hopefully have a stillen kit on the car..unless ionic or someone else comes up with a nicer front lip.

werd

i just replaced the 4" lip with the 2.5" one (same as on the red max)

went back to home depot again and got some of the shorter matrial and put it on... looks even better than before (definitly looks stock if you dont know maximas) and it shouldnt scrape everything now like the 'old' one did

also looked at how this stuff would look all around the car (since i took the other one off the front) and i must say its terrible just like i suspected it would be so dont bother

hey, I wouldn't do it but I give you guys credit for trying. there are always gonna be people that disagree. That's just how it goes. Personally, I think it looks good concidering it's a $3 mod. Ludacris is right...it's a good stepping stone. If you all could see my stillen lip now...
