Oil On My Spark Plugs!!! :(

just yesterday i changed my spark plugs and on the rear number 2 spark plug there was oil not only on the spark plug but oil filled the little cylinder where the spark plug goes in....i have no idea what the problem is, possibly the rear head gasket?? thats the only thing i can think of. theres no oil in the cylinder just the slot that the plug goes into how did it get there???

If it wasnt anywher on the tip of the sparkplug, but rather on the insulator, then its just a leaking valve cover gasket.

valve cover gasket was what i thought at first too, but then i remembered the valve cover gasket only goes around the outer edge of the valve cover....not touching the spark plug area, correct??

and the oil level is fine it was probably about a shots worth of oil above the sprak plug and on the thread but not on the tip

lemme say it again....not the valve cover gasket...if uve replaced any in the past then ud know it only goes around the outside....im 99% positive...i would just take the valve cover off but im too lazy to take the intake manifold off as well just to get to it

Iam pretty sure its the valve cover gasket. There has to be something around the plug hole, since its a OHC engine.

I hav never replaced the maxis, but on my beater saturn, there is a small ring of gasket material, where the spark plug goes. You are thinking of older cars with OHVs. Hav you even replaced a valve cover gasket on a OHC engine? Maybe your right. The oil fairy just put that oil there

it's probably not the valve cover gasket. I had my #6 cylinder spark plug fouled with oil. I took it in, got it checked and they said it that there is an oil o-ring for each plug and mine needed to be replaced. They replaced all six, no oil since then.

It should come with the valve cover gaskets when you order them. just make sure you get six of them.

The spark plug gaskets are on the bottom side of the valve covers..the valve covers need to come off to access these gaskets..if you only have oil on the threads then your in fine shape. if the spark plug well is full of oil, then its fine to tear the vavle cover off
