blk_g20, i had the same problem when i serviced my trans. I thought i had the answer and cut a groove in bottom of the bolt, used a screwdriver & wrench to get it off. caught the blues trying to retighten it. after the fact, i found out all i had to do was clean the filter/screen that was in there with brake clean. hope this helps in time!!!

you spray brake cleaner up to the exposed screen in the little window on the filter while its still on the transmission? i thought i read other people took it out. also it seems like the exposed area is only a small part of the entire screen. before i took off the pan, i always had the idea that the screen is actually a flat screen you could take off and clean, not this filter contraption.

i've done several pan drops but never though of cleaning the screen cause I was told that it isn't neccesary. did you guys find any junk or build up on these screen/filters? any chunkc of metal?

i didn't see any metal on the screen. it was on the write-up here that people take them out to clean them. NAPA also sell a kit which contained the gasket and the filter, as well as just the gasket itself which was what i bought. good thing i didn't buy the kit since i wasn't able to take the filter/screen out.

actually everything was very clean, i had just gotten the car at the time and trying to make sure all of the basic maintenance was done, i did the tranny service. spray it if it's dirty.
