Built Auto tranny - I got one

Well the tranny crapped out on my after the 14.2 pass. I was on my way home (10 miles from e-town) and i started gushing tranny fluid everywhere and onto my exhaust creating a smoke screen on US-9. So i pulled into stop and shop parking lot at 10pm, come 3pm my parents coem pick me and a friend up because the tow trucks would not come that late to tow to LI. next morning a tow truck picks up my car and starts his way to Glan Cove (maximumtuning) Some $350 later the car is here.
###Note: Buy roadside service with your insurance, it costs $1 a month, they picked up $225 of the tow bill###

Now for the fun stuff, what is happening to the car:
-New valve body stronger than previous
-Protorque high stall converter
-Kevlar clutch in converter
-high energy friction clutches in tranny
-wider and stronger clutch bands
-stronger solenoids
-all new seal and gaskets
-welded planets
-welded pins
-cryoed sunshell
+ pther variosu welding and heat treating
= matt said this tranny is pretty much bullet proff and can handle around 500hp to the wwheels easily, plus he is warrantying the tranny

should be gewttting the car by the end of the week, will let everyone know how this works out

Be very cautious of anyone that rates thier trannies in HP and not torque. To me that shows that they have a lack of basic automotive knowledge. HP is derived from torque. It is quite possible to have a motor make 500hp, but only make 200 ft/lbs of torque. This motor would have to rev to the "alimighty", but it is possible. The lower the torque, the easier the power is on the tranny. If the tranny was rated at 500 ft/lbs of torque then I'd be incredibly impressed, but rating to to "500hp" is meaningless in my book.

dave, although what you said is true and 100% valid, there's no need to worry about whether or not the guys at maximumtuning know their stuff.

I, and I'm sure dozens of other people on these boards can vouch for their credibility.

I believe you, but why don't you guys ask the guys at maximumtuning what kind of torque their trannies are able to hold?

The thing that tranny shifts faster than you ever could in a 5spd. If I'm not mistaken that's the one that uses the Supra parts right? Or is that the other place? That one was around $3k.

big d - the tranny does shift much faster, but not with supra parts, shifts faster than ANYONE with a mnaula could

sterling - i wanted the 5spd, but decided against it for many reason
1. city driving
2. nitrous applictaion (more power in an auto)
3. sleeper look

dave - i did, the tranny said whatever you can get this motor to make, (in warranty lol) if anything goes wrong i just bring it back and they fix it

It shifts faster but keep in mind the DT loss is still robbing you of a few horses over the 5spd. I'm kind of in the same boat as you were. I wan't a 5spd but for $1k more I could have an "almost" bulletproof auto. ****ing city driving.

Same question here.

I was looking into going with a 2400, but wasn't quite sure about the driveability issues because mines a daily driver.

Stock stall is 2200 or 2000rpm right? 2400 wouldn't be that bad.

five speeds are a joy to drive but the auto is quicker modified. i had a five speed s/c with over 300 hp and i traded it in for a automatic cause it gets right to the point. ive gotten my auto max as low as 12.9 in the 1/4 at 111 mph. but maximumtuning does excellent work and jeff is the best. i had the stage 3 vb done by them and boy what a difference it makes for an auto.
