6 Speed Tranny Swap.

OK. I know that Tilleys99 and some others have already done this swap. I got with Tilley, and he says he used the 3.0 flywheel and clutch when he mated it to his 3.0. OK. I know I'll need 5th gen axles, linkages, shifter, and obviously the tranny, but. My question is.....

Tilley, did you use the 3.0 bellhousing and mate the 3.5 to that, or did you use the 3.5 bellhousing as well?

For those of you who ask why I want to do this, I'm not a big straight line racer, so don't start that "your 1/4 mile times will suffer..." crap. I want a smooth shifting 6 speed for future motor enhancements.

David

Anyone who's done this swap, any info would be greatly appreciated.

If you want a smooth 6spd, you should consider something else. The 6spd deosn't feel right or smooth from what I heard and experienced.

Well. Compared to the condition of my tranny right now, anything is smooth.

True. How much harder and how much more expensive dp you think this would be over a 5spd swap? I know you're going from 5spd to 6spd not auto to 5spd but what do you think?

Well. I've located a 6 speed for 750. Factor in the axles, and it's not gonna be all that much. Not to mention the fact, that I could turn around and sell my 5 speed, linkages, and shifter along with axles when I get done. I acan probably come out about 500 in the hole. I like that.

What about the drive by wire throttle? Or is that not an issue at all?

Nah. Drive by wire is a throttle issue only. Has nothing to do with the tranny.
