Kyb Agx, Or Tokico illuminas
Hey I a question which is the better of the two? I know that I am abou to start a long and heated subject but I have heard good and bad about both. One is to stiff a ride the other dosen't last tp long.... ect. Over all perfomance and driveability. Which is the best buy. They are both around the same price so that is not a factor. I am on Tien S-techs right now and I need some new Struts before I turn into a............ Bouncing CIVIC AHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!! Help Thanx!!!!

stay away from AGX... im learned the hardway and blew one front struts after a year on a Sprint drop.
id go with illuminas, but who knows theyll prolly blow after a year as well, specially on a heavy drop like Sprint or Tein.
my .02!

if you have the cash, go with the illumina's.
The KYB's arent bad in my opinion. Ive had mine for about 2 years if not more.
Ive had no problems and im on Sprints.
The kyb's are a bit stiffer then the illumina's from what Ive heard thats why I say go with them.

yeah, I think both are good struts.
The Illuminas are bragged upon for being a more "comfortable" strut and possibly longer lasting.
Well, that longer lasting theory is blown out by people like FLAVOR247...ha ha ha.

Well koni is the best performing strut really, but they arent too popular. Most likley because they are the hardest to install and adjust. I have the AGX and I like them. Once they are on the car I dont think you will care which one you boought really. The difference from stock is amaizing no matter what adjuastable you buy. Since you have such a low drop I'd recommend the Illuminas over the AGX, only because the AGX aren't warrentied past a 1.5" drop. If you havnt looked into Koni's I'd suggest you do so.

I have the kyb agx's on stock springs. I used to like it, it definitely improves handling alot, but its a bit stiff and bouncy for me. I'm probably going to switch the fronts to illuminas. I've driven meccanobles car with smaller springs, and it felt pretty good on the agx's.

Bouncy?
What setting do you use?
Even when I was on the stock settings I never felt my ride bounce.
My car with the Sprints ride nice and solid.

They only adjust for rebound, not compression. Adjustability on the rear units is only done when the shock is taken off the car and they ride way harsh on lowered setups. Aside from that the application for Maxima's isn't even a direct fit up front. AGX's give you way more bang for your buck then Konis do for our cars.
Koni might be a nice strut installed on the OEM suspension of any car, just as the AGX's ride and handle excellent on the OEM springs in a Maxima, but suffers when the vehicle is lowered.
The best riding/handling/performing strut I've ever installed on a lowered sport suspension setup is a Belstein. Very firm handling yet they ride as smooth as silk.

I want Belstein!!! Funny cuz they got springs for my 92 Toyota Previa, but not our Maximas. Wassup w/that?!
My sprint/illumina combo sucks. Well, it's probably the sprints... not stiff enuf for me. I'm still getting lean and the car feels "heavy". Maybe it's the car... However, the illuminas set to 5/5 (max setting front/rear) seem to isolate them pretty well.
Eibach/illumina in my bro's 2k is a great combo. Eibach/koni in my 93 is ok... still fiddling with the koni settings, which's a biotch cuz you gotta remove everything to adjust them.
my final word: you get what you pay for.
eibach+illumina=650
sprint+illumina=570
