front wheel bearing

I am in the process of replacing my left front wheel bearing on my '98 after having to replace the right one about three months ago, has anybody else had any problems with front wheel bearings? I haven't heard of very many people having to replace a wheel bearing since they're sealed and you dont have to repack them anymore like you did 15 years ago. Just wondering if it is a common problem, or just my bad luck?? Granted, I am at 150k miles, but just seems like to me that SEALED wheel bearing shouldn't be wearing out in 150k, maybe 300-400k but not that soon???

I had to replace mine at about 115k. I just bought the factory bearings and had Nissan press them in. They charged about 120 for labor.
Before the front right would give a high pitched squeel when I turned right.

My max had the left go bad at 45k and the right at 50K !!!!! Nissan replaced them both. They were making a loud squeal. ARGH! All is good now.

I had the fronts replaced around 105K miles and the rear passenger side replaced around 110K. They are loud and a pain but car never drove more smoother and sounded more sweeter. Also had to replace the left ball joint.

My front driver side has a high pitched noise after driving a bit, but it makes an annoying squeeking noise when i go over any bumps, it also squeeks worse when im turning slightly right. It's alot more noticable when i have a front passenger. Do you think i need just the bearing?

Thanks folks, that at least makes me feel better about having to replace mine. Now i know its not just bad luck. Unfortunately, after getting everything out I found that yet again like the right side, i have to replace the left hub too. When the bearing wore out, the inner race wore down the shaft of the hub that goes through the center of the bearing. Gotta love that-that was an extra $150 part.

do you still have the wheel bearing set? I need the left one.

Let me know how much it will run.

Thanks,
Larry

They wear out and wear out quickly. And you don't always have any symptoms. FWD cars are prone to bearing issues because of the load placed on them.
I just did mine at 135k. I discovered the driver side had over 1/8" of play when changing out my axels. $170 in parts for both R&L bearings and seals, took the hub assemblies off the car and had a local shop install them for $50.
What's strange is I had no indication the bearing was bad. Slight vibration on the highway that I figured was tire or old strut related.
Go figure
