best mpg..

I know the rule of thumb to get the best mileage is to either go 55mph or keep the rpm's between 2 and 2.5 The thing is I keep my speed around 50-55mph, and my rpms are like 1.5 But when I kick it up to 60, the rpm's are at 2. I just got the car used and drove it around 2k so far. What general maintenance should I do? or is this all normal? Thanks for your feedback.

If you intend to drive the car at 55 or 60, why did you buy it? Look at the frequently asked questions (FAQ) for a description of what maintenance is done at the various service intervals. Also look at your service manual.

I don't know how many miles you have on your car. But it is important to get the more major maintenance checks done at 30,000 and 60,000 miles.

In between change the oil and filter every 3,750 miles, keep the tires inflated properly and rotate them every 7,500 miles. Check the condition of the air filter. Take the vehicle to a radiator shop and get them to do a pH test of the radiator fluid. It should be changed every 2 years or 30,000 miles. You might be able to get more than 2 years out of it going forward if you don't drive 15,000 miles a year, but it breaks down over time.

Don't chintz on changing fluids - transmission, differential, oil, radiator!

The car gets decent gas mileage on the highway regardless of how fast you drive it, put certainly you get better mileage at 60 mph than you do at 80. Also don't run it on low octane fuel.

no. there's no really rule of thumb for "best gas mileage". it varies from cars to car according to ur maintance, car condition, and driving style.

yes this is all normal
