Maxima 2004 getting 8 MPG !!!

Hi everybody, my name is Liber and I am from Mexico, first thing.. sorry for my english is not good but im trying...

I recently buy a Maxima 2004... I love this car, it have a great room interior, quiet, nice suspension... but.. Im getting 8 MPG.. and that really suck. 10 MPG highway and 8 MPG in city...

CEL only have the VIAS code, and I clean the TB areully, and iīve never touch the butterfly. Im gonna make an oil change and spark plug (PITA) tomorrow.

The OBD2 scanner only show that code... I know there are like 1 million thing tht cause the bad gas consumption.. but for your knowledge, what will be the most common thing? a bad O2 sensor? I donīt know.. hope someone can help me...

Thanks !!!!

You really should take it in to a shop at this point. I honestly think you have some bigger problems than you are describing. I have seen 13mpg but that is driving my car like I stole it with mostly city stop and go driving.

You have a major problem, What are your long term and short term fuel trims? You should probably take it to a shop that knows what they are doing, you should be getting lowest is 12-18 in the city and 25-40 on the freeway... I used to get 40 on long drives with my 04 maxima with a 6speed wich is absolutly rediculous for a 3500 lb car that can do a 13.... gj nissan lol

Ok... I donīt know what is th eproblem with my car, but now im getting 11-12 MPG during the past week. I donīt touch anything. The engine is good, it is working fine, no problems at all... But i feel a little vibration in the entire car at idle.

And a "bump" shift in 1-2 gear, I think it neew a transgo shift kit... Ebay $105 dll.. it worth?
