The ___Light Thread

i havent seen one of these since i have been on the org. but i am confused about bulbs. i mean yes i know what type to buy, but as far as quality, brightness, cost, and dependability, i am clueless.

this goes for headlights, foglights, corners, whatever...

could you please post pics of your ____lights and rep your brand (if you like them)... maybe this could be a resource for fellow orgers too!

From: san antonio, Tejas
Headlight: 6000k McCullough kit
Clearance lamp: amber bulbs
Bumper lamps: amber bulbs
Fogs: Narva Rally Gold 85w (wired independently)
Tailights: amber bulbs

After getting a fix-it ticket for my clearance and blinker lights being hyperwhite, i decided to go the classic amber theme. Check the sig, I think that it came out really good.

Heads: 9007 Sylvania Xtravisions with 12 gauge harness
Factory Fogs: Sylvania 55 watt H3 (independent)
amber everything else

My headlights are the brightest setup other than HIDs. Write up and pix: http://forums.maxima.org/showthread.php?t=312531.

Here is a good 9004 bulb thread: http://forums.maxima.org/showthread.php?t=310287

I have had bad luck with every colored 9004/H3 bulb i have tried. I strongly recommend the 9007 conversion and uncolored halogen bulbs. All the other bulbs, 1156 1557 194 etc last the same because they are just incandescent type bulbs so any brand will do.

I've had the same problem with every kind of headlight bulb from ebay and other import shops that i quit using colored halogen bulbs. I've gotten tired of burnt harness and blown bulbs i just went with hids.

I have heard pretty good success from the conversion to 9007's from 9004's. I mean, you get a good bit more light, better beam pattern, and don't have to spend the money for HID's. Plus, a lot of the retro-fitting HID kits for our 4th gens spread the beam pattern so much that you cannot get it low enough. You will always get flashed by people(and not in a good way...he he).
