Who Has a Quaife LSD?

Is it worth $1400? Will Cattman give a discount to Orgers?

Is torque steer much reduced? Car much more fun to drive? Better traction in all conditions?

How easy is the install? I've seen the VQPower.com write-up and it looks a bit daunting... Would it be worth it to replace your tranny at the same time with a less-used one, or to cryo-treat your gears (how much does cryo-treating cost?).

Lastly, how do you pronounce "Quaife"? Kwayff?

Thanks.

don't have one.
is it worth $1400? maybe yes. "can you afford it?", is another question.
as far as i know, it does make a huge difference in traction and torque steer. for other questions don't have answers at all.

I love my quiafe. Good luck trying to get one, Cattman was the only authorized Quaife of America seller. He no longer carries them

I'd heard this rumor....there's gotta be a way to get one, maybe contact Quaife directly... Probably would cost more, though. Maybe we can get 30 interested people and call Brian! (YA RIGHT...)

Seriously, though, maybe if we had even just 5 interested people with cash in hand, maybe he'd order then....

Jay, is it worth $1400? I'm thinking most people spend more than that on rims and tires (which are mostly for looks) so it's not a bad deal for a big handling/performance improvement...

The LSD in I30 trannies is nowhere near as good as the LSD in a Quaife. They're two completely different designs.

Phantom Grip...I just heard about it, has anyone heard any testimonials? I guess it's new for the Maxima. I doubt it comes close to the Quaife.

Maximus_pr, get back to us about the dealer in Puerto Rico. Thanks!

The Quaife and Kaaz types of gear diff's are far superior and most respects. Perhaps the Nissan helical's are that type too. Phantom and VLSD have specific purpose/functions but aren't as flexible for different driving styles. In regards to diff's you really get what you pay for. As far as Phantom they've gotten good reviews from non-Nissan apps and from NPM. I've also heard about metal shavings from more than one source.

the phantom grip is basicly a little cube like thing that drops in the diff and that's basicly it, it works but nothing compares to the real thing. and VLSD and the actual LSD completely different things.

Here is the response from Quaife:

Tom,
Thank you for your recent inquiry. Unfortunately it does appear that Cattman will not be carrying that Quaife any longer. We made the special batch run for them and do not really have any plans to manufacture them ourselves. Sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused.

OOh ****, I told you guys they were no longer making them. Theres a junked maxima in NY that has one in the tranny. According the the .org member he said it was damaged. I dont think it was damaged though. If you live in that area try locating a 2k max tranny. I bet my money that quiafe is in good condition.
