squeal when engine is cold

squeal when engine is cold

what can cause this? myn car has a little squeal when its cold but seems to stop when the car warms up.

When starting....when idle or when driving at low speeds/high speed???? EXPLAIN URSELF

Could be starter/belts/few other things....

sounds like a belt problem, either your belts are loose or are worn, adjust tension w/ the tensioner, be sure you're within spec & don't overtighten, if that doesn't help, then you need new belts

I going to guess belts. WhT98SE has good advice. Ther is also some belt grease as well you should check that out. Im thinking of worn belts.

next time it happens open your hood.. and spray some wd40 on the belts , if the noise stops then you have figured out your probelm.

Just be sure to loosen the 14mm nut on the tensioning pully before cranking the adjuster... or that adjuster will break.

The Haynes manual does not mention this nut, but trust me, that's what will happen.
