CV shaft replacment

Yeah I'm going to be changing my CV shaft on my auto max, I never did it on auto tranny before. I know it's pretty much the same. So it's the CV shaft on the left will I need to drain my tranny fluid and how much will I need to replace (if some leaks out of the hole). Normally I wouldn't ask these questions but I don't have enough money to just drain the tranny along with vavle body.

Yeah I though there would be a case that it wouldn't leak. Because most of the times it doesn't leak on manual trannies but I think it depends on the side that you do. Which side did you do? I got to do the drivers side.

same here... pulled the old shafts and not a drop came out. I had 6qts on hand just in case not knowing one way or the other. Its on the shelf waiting for the next 30k drain and fill.

Warning! Be prepared to replace front wheel bearings once you get the thing apart. My left bearing had a 1/4" of play at the hub and I had no clue it was that bad! Nothing more than a tiny vibration in the steering wheel that you might think was tire balance or suspension wear. Amazing actually. Right side seemed ok, but I did it then anyways. At 135k it was time.

No I'm at 65k so I don't have to worry about that, and what size is the nut on the axles? I always used 1 1/4" on others

where are the front wheel bearings located at? i just changed my axel out but didn't replace anything besides that and with 115k it might need it. that might be the problem with my friends max too. btw i didn't have metric sockets so i used standard and it worked just fine. don't remember what size it was tho
