Spec Stage 1 Clutch
anyone else have one of these?
just got one installed last night. first thing I did when I picked up the car is jump in and press the pedal. it is light, and I mean civic light. I thought they installed it wrong or something.
also, engagement is not that smooth. pedal modulation is much easier due to the lighter effort, but engagement seems to be a little rough.
for anyone with a spec clutch, does the pedal effort go up after break in? does the engagement get smoother?

Have stage 2 and still breaking it in, under 100 miles on it. Engagement is not bad just slight chatter but it is a kevlar disk. Since yours is organic there should not be chatter and easy engagement just like my.

i have had a stage 2 for about 50k miles. no problems despite the fact that the crescent seal has been leaking for a loooong time now. solid engagment-little rough, and it taken all the abuse i put to it. the only thing i would not recommend doing with this clutch is trying to hill hold the car with the clutch. (shouldnt do it with any clutch) because of the aggressive nature of the clutch the car will jerk/vibrate.

okay i had a spec stage 1 clutch installed and to my knowledge the break in period for a clutch is 500 miles, right? well, I've driven almost 1250 km which is about 750-800 miles and the Darn thing slips when i give it some gas at about ~3000 rpms and unless i completely let off the gas and then shift it slips. this is really starting to irritate me. any help? i'm ready to rip this clutch out and beat someone with it.

If most of those 750 miles were highway or cruising miles it was worthless. Slipping the clutch to take off in 1st is what breaks the clutch in. Oh yea, upshifting and downshifting doesn't count at all either.

ok. i've done plenty of that. I admit some of those miles were cruising but this is ridiculous. plenty of people i talk have never even heard of breaking a clutch in. this sucks.

When I got my POS key value installed, he said drive it like you'll drive it later, don't baby it for ~500 miles. I think maybe a 100 mile break-in is necessary to clean the disk, after that...
