Engine Dressup ideas

I'm currently on somewhat of a break with the modding of my max. But one of the things I've been interested in doing are some small mods that would make my engine bay get more looks. Of course can't afford a turbo or supercharger but what else can I do that is not very expensive. Here's a pic of what my engine looks like...

polish the timing chain cover...that helps a lot. (i cant tell from the picture if yours is polished or not).

If not, just use some aluminum polish and you can do it by hand. I used a die grinder with a polishing brush on it, and it looks great! Gives a nice shine to it!

did you do it while it was on the car? if so, is just the top of it done? do you have any pictures?

You can polish your valvecover & timing chain cover, intake manifold & throttlebody.

You can paint all of these items red your oil cap, power steering cap, washer fluid resvoir cap, brake resvoir cap, oil & tranny dipstick.

You can buy some red electrical tape & wrap the wiring harness above the fuel injectors.

You can pick up some red vacuum line & replace all the black vacuum lines with it.

You can get a GT-R emblem & stick it on your MAF sensor (it's red).

You can get a stillen battery hold down (it reads stillen in red on it)

Here is an old picture of my engine compartment. Notice the red brake resvoir cap & the stillen battery hold down, the GT-R emblem on the MAF sensor & the blue vacuum hoses. Also check out the black oil dipstick & how bright red the trans dipstick is. Since this picture I have painted the oil cap, powersteering resvoir cap, washer fluid cap, oil & trans dipstick blue like the valvecover & installed a anodized blue adj. FPR with gauge since then. Another thing you can't see is the nitrous sytem. I hide all the components so at first glance you don't even know it's there.

Some may call it rice, but you could always get/make a ground wire kit. Either get some wire and some ring terminals or buy one off ebay. I made mine, I didn't really notice much of a difference in the car or the electrical system, but the red wire running around the engine does add a bit more color.

Its not hard at all man.. i myself am the furthest away from being a mechanic and i took off the Vc and the plenum... just remember to tighten in sequence and if u take the plenum off remember to clamp all the hoses... ( i didnt tighten a clamp on one of the hose and i had a serious antifreeze leak... had to take the whole damn plenum off to get to the hose!! ... After 3 hrs of ****ing around tryin to clamp it with it on...)
