every 2nd time i change my oil (6-8000 miles.) i clean the tb and air filter. i find that my tb gets dirty fairly fast. when i spray i see the dirt pour out. id say every 6,000 miles is a good time to clean.

My car is going on 10 years old (only 53,000 miles) and as far as I know the throttle body has never been cleaned. I don't believe it was cleaned at 35,000 miles (late on 30,000 mile service). I suspect the vehicle doesn't need it until at least the 60,000 mile service and I doubt Nissan would even do it then unless they inspected it and deemed it necessary.

Without actually looking at the TB, what symptons will I notice that suggest I should do it. My car runs perfectly and the gas mileage has not worsened one iota from day one, if anything gotten better.

i have an injen clone cai, and replaced the filter with an apexi cone filter. everytime i spray i always get a lil run off of dirt. i like cleaning it because it doesnt give the dirt time to layer its self on eachother and then it gets VERY hard to clean, the 1st time i cleaned it i spent 45 mins to make sure i go deep into the manifold. now i can clean it in like 10 mins. id rather do it every other oil change just to keep it free of dirt.

what is the procedure in doing this, taking off the intake, then spraying gunk-off into the TB?

I usually clean the outer part and then open it and spray inside. I do it twice a year and I change my air filter twice a year and I'll probably use SeaFoam twice a year

Open that sucker up WOT and hold it there, spray, and watch that crap come pouring right out. Spray down the outer section too, but moreso inside past that butterfly plate. Took me a good 10 minutes of spraying and wiping before all the stuff came out.

Maximeltman...take off the rubber hose (assuming you have stock intake

) connecting the airbox to the TB by lossening both clamps and just wriggle it off. Thats it.
