When hitting large puddles the PS goes out??

This has happend several times now. If I drive through a large puddle of water it feel like my power steering goes out for a little bit. Sometime for 30 seconds or so. Does this make sense. I guess water could be getting up in my engine bay, but I don't know how this is effecting my power steering. Any thoughts?

i'm not sure where the power steering pump pulley is located but when i took off the inner fender linings on my sentra, everytime i hit a puddle my pulleys and belts would slip and spin. Off the top of my head that sounds to me like thats what would cause your problem.

well you shouldn't drive through a big puddle fast cause you'll lose control of you car since it so low. and don't force the steering, but yea the belts start to slip also.

Is it during or after going through the puddle?
The only thing I can think of is if you hit a puddle with the right wheel and your power steering belt is a little slack then the water may cause it to slip but I don't think that that much water should get to the belts.

right after hitting the puddle it goes out. The belt thing makes perfect sense, don't know why I did not think of that. Thanks.

It has nothing to do with driving fast, the times it has happend my speed has been less than 15mph and I was in a parking lot.
