Antenna...how do i make this work?

I've tried those adapters so I can plug my antenna into an aftermarket head unit with no luck. I bought a power antenna, but it didn't work as well as the regular antenna did when I had my factory head unit in. The antenna just doesn't go up. Do I need to run a wire to the power antenna thing off the back of my head unit? Where do I connect it to? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks

Not sure if there's a how-to in here, I never searched for this topic before since I know how to wire things like this. The adapter you speak of adapts the antenna jack connection of the aftermarket HU to the stock antenna jack. You need more than that to operate the antenna itself. Your aftermarket HU should have a remote turn-on lead (usually used to turn on an amplifier). You can use that same lead to activate the stock antenna. As far as the color of the lead for the stock antenna turn-on lead, I don't remember. But I used a light tester to find that. Hopefully, someone can step in regarding the color of this lead.

I got a question. Who on here has an aftermarket antenna, specifically like the Volkswagon Jetta ones that are mounted on the roof right above the rear window? How did you wire it to the Radio/CD Player, etc. ? Was it hard or easy, or did oyu just let somebody else do it? I'd like to do it to my boy's Max.

Windshield antennas

Anyone running on windshield type antennas? I wanna get rid of the ugly antenna on mine and was wondering if the windshield types are good enough not that I listen to radio much but as long as I get the popular FM frequencies, I'm good. Most of the time I listen to my mixed CD's. I heard somewhere that our Maxima has a combo of windshield and regular antenne, just hear-say so don't quote me.
