axle seals
I have the tranny out and Im trying to replace both axle seals. I ordered both seals from JRNissan but I wasnt positive of the part numbers. The passenger side seal looks like the right one but the seal I got for the drivers side looks a lot bigger. Is that the correct one for the drivers side? If not, what is it for?
Heres a pic...
Left - Passenger side Axle Seal: 38-342-81X01
Right - Driver side Axle Seal:38-342-51E00

I can't verify the part numbers off hand, but I can tell you that the seals you have pictured look correct.
The LH is way bigger than the RH.
I put them in mine while the trans was out, but I did not fix the bearing clearance issue that causes them to leak.
Guess what...... they still leak.

I dont think mine were leaking but Im worried about the bearings. A lot of people seem to have that problem. Im just going to try and get a 2k or 2k1 tranny soon because my third gear is getting messed up. Im got the passenger side seal out easily but the drivers side just doesnt want to come out. I tried using a screwdriver and pulling on it with some pliers but its stuck in there. Anything else I can try?
