Y-pipe but don't feel gains

Well I had Dan at Maximumtuning put in my buget y pipe on Thursday and with the exception of a more agressive tone at idle and WOT I don't feel any gains.

I'm I missing something? All responses welcome

P.S.
I still have not reset the ecu b/c I didn't get a cel after install.

I have a Stage 2 valve body autoMAGIC

You'll have to excuse me but what is a Stage 2 valve body autoMAGIC?

You say you have stock exhaust. Does that mean completely stock?
I installed a K&N panel air filter about two months ago, then a Budget Y-pipe a month ago. In combination, I can certainly feel a difference. If you have no plans on getting a CAI or other kind of intake apparatus, I would strongly suggest you get a K&N panel air filter so you get more air into the Y-pipe and through the exhaust system.

I didn't have to reset my ECU after the Budget Y-pipe was installed. Also no CEL.

wierd...i felt it as soon as i punched it out of the garage.

You're not the only one with these ghost performance problems there are others. I just tell them let the car get use to the y-pipe first. Give it a week or so.

Oh jeez. You won't get a CEL after installing a Ypipe? Why would you unless you broke some sensor or your O2 sensors go out on you? You reset the ECU so it RESETS, adjusts faster to the new mod(not sure it actually does that?. A y-pipe is a mod you feel after 3500rpm, not earlier.

Everything is stock with the exception of the y-pipe.
Stage 2 (street/strip Valve body)
Automagic is an automatic tranny.(Term of endearment)
I'll look into the K&N panel air filter. Sounds like a good replacement

I hope I'm not one those "ghost" It's been 4 days, another 3 to go.

Big D :
I have pushed the car passed 3500rpm. Since I got the pipe. Today I raced my friend in his z3 2.5 manual and did no better then when I raced him with my stock pipe.
I just don't notice or feel the gains. I would hate to think I'm not getting my money's worth.

P.S. Thanks for the reponses

i feel no gains also (maybe it's just me). i don't have any other mods, and i doubt the air filter will help. might be a cloged cat., but this rearly happens.

Autos are significantly slower than 5spds. That's why they're autoTRAGICs

You'd be suprised.....

My AutoMAGIC took a RSX type-s (6spd) till 80mph a few months ago. Thats with a ****ty launch for both cars.

Dont underestimate the Auto.

I have auto, but i did feel the difference of the y pipe right away. I do also have a catback and air intake which certainly help but the y pipe gave the most noticable gain to me.

i had the same problem. . . I got the y-pipe installed and said to myself "what the heck are they so excited about? I don't feel anything" . . UNTIL... I changed my knock sensor 4 months later. . .
I got on the highway & within seconds I had a huge smile on my face . . .
check your knock sensor , might be bad.

Pardon me for stating the obvious...

But without the extra air flow of a CAI, or short-ram or whatever, the air-flow into the engine isn't increased, sure the Y is expelling more gases, but you need the intake to really make the most of that...

Try a drop-in K&N or even changing your intake setup... Might help

Gains are there, whether you feel them or not.

I just replaced the knock sensor about 2-3 months ago. I guess it's like "I30tMikeD " said the gains are there I just don't feel it
I do like the sound though i really want a cat back now

u will feel the gains above 3,500rpm, and definetly around 4.5k-6.0k.

so redline your car more until you feel it, or take it to the dyno.
