OEM is the best.

But I used a 96 non turbo 300ZX feul filter from Advanced Auto. It is hte Peualator brand.

I agree with kevlo911. OEM is the best. I however went with the 300zx fuel filter from Autozone. I had no problems with fitment.

get the 300zx twin turob filter oem fiulter. they are pretty cheap about the same price as the max's filter.

the twin turbo filter is bigger. there really is no performance differance in all these filters, just the twin turbo's filter is suppose to last longer cuase of it's size. thatis what the parts guy at the dealer told me.

If you have ABS, don't get a bigger filter. You might need a straightjacket after trying to install it. With ABS piping present the stock FF replacement is tricky enough.

I used the Bosch one here:
http://www2.autopartsauthority.com/p...rt=Fuel+Filter

The replacement sucked! It took me forever to get the friggin hoses off, so my advice (as was given to me by some of the chaps here)...

*Run the car a little before you swap the filters, the hoses will warm up and make life A LOT easier

*Take your intake out, this will give you more room to work

*Pull the old filter from the bracket so that you can get a better handle on it when you are disconnecting the hoses

*Finally, Twist off the hoses, don't pull... I tried pulling first and I thought I was gonna sh*t my pants I was pulling so hard...

If you do all of the above, should only take you about 20 minutes. Good luck!

Yeah, the hoses like to stay stuck. I used a flathead screwdriver (or a putty knife would work) to pry the end of the hose away from the body of the filter. Then once I broke it loose, used long angled needle-nosed pliers I gently pryed them off using the filter canister to push off from. Go to harborfreight tools local store or website and add the bent-nose pliers to your toolbox if you don't have them yet. I use them as often as my 10mm ratchet wrench (which is a lot).

It may pay off really well to put some of that anti-stick stuff for radiator hoses on for next time, but make sure it's safe for use in fuel lines.

First time doing it with regular needle nosed pliers, it took me over an hour. Second time, as described above, 15 min and I was being slow.

Mine came off pretty easily. What I did was pull the fuel pump fuse and try to crank the car and let it run until it quit. Then I tried cranking it a couple more times. I believe by doing this it releases the pressure in the fuel system and makes the hoses easier to come off. It worked for me Sorry Joew I dont have the oem part number.

I just put the 300ZX filter in on my 97 w/abs, it took about 20 min(and I was only bleeding from ONE knuckle).

i don't think i have abs.. i have a 97, which trim i dun even know =I .. noobs anybody can help me? i don't think the manual says.

so the 300zx fits the bracket easily?.. i can just visually see it when i open my hood, but i don't even know if what i see is the fuel filter. ( i just quick glanced at it and see black hose in and out of it.

there's a checker's and napa here, checker's sells fram brands.. does anyone know where i can pick other brands up?

but first is to narrow down if i should get the 300zx one or the 97 max one. does any year of the 300zx matter?

anyhow thanks.

TT and N/A Z filters are the same thing. It will fit fine as the bracket is fairly expandable.
FISHY PM me your VIN and I'll tell you what trim you have.

if you don't want to get OEM then 97 should be fine. note that the price oem fuel filter is about the same as aftermarket. i would recommend J&R nissan but you live in HI. i'm not sure if shipping cost would make a dent in your wallet.

^ yeah, ok. A 300zx fuel filter for a 300zx will cost you $30 at ANY local dealer. Max filter is $15 which isn't much better. Find a DISCOUNT nissan dealer.

I don't think anyone will say it offers better performance. The filter will only last longer. If anyone would like to change your fuel filter more frequently then Maxima filter is for you.
