Can a bad camshaft sensor prevent a Max from starting?

Hello all,

I have a 95 max, and 9 out of 10 times, the car starts. But sometimes, the car wont start over. It cranks, but no fire.

A while ago the check engine light came on and I did the ECU Code, and it was 1-1 which is camshaft sensor, but the check engine light went away and am not getting the camshaft code anymore when I do the test.

What do you guys think, can it be the camshaft sensor??

Thanks,

Miladey1

Yes it will prevent it from starting. Just to prove that, disconnect the harness from the sensor. The car will crank but NEVER start...

to that... yes it will. A new camshaft sensor will cost about 50-60 bucks from jrnissanparts.com. Replace it or order it so you have it handy in case your car stops starting altogether.

Me too. I disconnected the sensor. The engine cranks without starting.

iight, i just suffered from this thing. For one, your car can still start. But it will cut off very shortly. I had a bad or going bad camshaft sensor and if car rested for a few minutes it would start up fine but after a few minutes of driving, rpms drop and car wont start, not even from a roll. So yea they are all right . Easiest thing in the world to change though, and u would most likely get a code for it, cause i know i did.
