How long did/is your transmission lasting?
#41
96 5 Speed SE, bought the car and the tranny was dying (96K), the guy who had her before me was bad driver with the car.
now at 106,xxx and tranny going good, but if it goes again (hopefully not knock on wood) I'm going with a LSD.

I think it's funny how few miles most of you have on your cars. I don't have many on my new Max... but let's go through the tally of Nissans that we've had:
1987 Maxima - 260k Miles and still kicking - no transmission fixes really needed
1994 Pathfinder - 250k Miles and was still kicking until an uninsured ***** ran into me in her ugly-*** Celica (ugly AND old..... both her and the car)
1996 Maxima GXE - 150k Miles no problems whatsoever
1995 Maxima GLE - 137k Miles no problems whatsoever
1995 Maxima GLE - 113k Miles no problems whatsoever
oh... all are autos ( and the pathfinder is and will always be my favorite Nissan automobile *edit* take that back, the 300zx and the 350z are way cooler but I'm 6'7" and still growing... I don't think I'll fit )

A huge % of my friends from high school are still driving their '95 maximas with a million miles and no problems.
Not once in the time I've owned this car have I dropped the trans into first or something. Only races are on interstate and it stays in 3rd regardless.

jap cars rule!! my dads camry reached 300k yesterday and its has original engine and tranny. as for my max, its got 137,xxx and there is only a very very very slight grinding going into 3rd, and it only does it when i accelerate fast it seems.
