Timing chain replacement
Timing chain replacement
I have a '95 Maxima GLE and it has 127k miles on it. The previous owner was really rough on it. Anyways, When I put my hand on the timing chain cover, I feal the chain slapping against the cover. I bought all the parts neccesary to fix it (500$ worth at discounts) and I have everything removed that the haynes manual calls for except for the engine mount. (which is bolted to the timing chain cover). What I need to find now is where to hook the engine hoist chains to so I can have the engine supported to remove the mount bracket. Does anyone know where the hook holes (if any) or thread holes to screw the chain plates into are? or is there another way to support the engine besides a hoist or cross bar thing? ALSO why is it neccesary to remove power steering pump, both oil pans, exaust pipes, etc, etc...is it REALLY neccesary? or does it just make the chain easier to change out?
Thanks in advance,
Andy
