i say dont change it unless it needs to be so only when its "squeeling" if there is no noise from it then it is fine that is what i have been told

a chain wont squeel.... thats a drive belt. ITs true the timing belts should be changed areound 60l but the maxima has a timing chain, which does not require to be changed ever. There has been some problems where you might have to get it replaced but its very unlikely to do so. Most of the times you will have your timing chain guides go bad.

It is a chain, so it does not need to be changed. It also says so on the user's manual. However, the belts need to be changed on a periodically.

if you dont have any timing chain problems or related problems you wont need to change it...if you guides go bad they will replaced it most likely saying that the chain has been stretched, if you happen to have this problem stay away from nissan, itll cost about 4k to have them do it...my guides and tensioners were bad and got it done for 500

oh my god what retards, a timing chain does not have to be changed the way a timing BELT has to be changed. Timing Belts have a tendancy to stretch hence their 60K life span. Timing chains are much much harder to stretch and almost always last the lifetime of the car. If you have any issues with noise its most likely the tensioner and guides that go bad.

the timing chain is designed to last the life of the engine.
