How do you reset your ECU???

How do you reset your ECU and is there anyway to mess this up and destroy it??

Im not talkin about the CEL. My car isnt starting and someone in another thread suggested I reset the ECU but I dont know how to do that.

Oh okay. I feel stupid. But I wonder if i messed up the ECU and thats why its not starting.

On the driver side right next to the gas pedal to the left there is a plastic cover remove the cover and then there is a metal box. Ok there is a screw the covered by a piece of tape i think its white or clear remove the tape (nicely). Then unscrew the screw just a couple of turns then turn the car to the on position and then turn it off and screw the screw back in i hope this helps.
