BFG Drag radials 225/50R15 ($233 from the TireRack shipped) and Mazda Millenia 15X6 rims ($60, one rim). The BFGs weigh in at a crack over 21lbs and the Millenia rim is about 12lbs. With air, the combo should weigh ~34lbs or so. Overall diameter is a crack over 23.5" or about 1.5" shorter than the stock 15" combo. The 225s are far wider than I remember. The tread is ~8.5" and the tire is nearly 10" wide at the sidewall. As for the feel, WOW! The rubber on these things feels like slicks compared to the hard rubber of Nitto drag radials. Hopefully these suckers will propel me into a more realistic ET in relation to my MPH. I big thanks to BSwithTF (Travis) for giving me his extra Millenia rim.

awesome Dave, tires look sexy as hell! Looking forward to your sub-14 times!

as a point of comparison, oz superleggera 17x8's with 235x45 T1-S's weigh in at 36lbs (16lb rim + 20lb tire). A 4lb savings over steel 15s and Michelin Harmony 205x65.

Yes folks, I got my rims a week ago and have been cruising proudly ever since! cardomain to be updated shortly. end of hijack.

btw those 225's look waaayyy wider than the 235x45 toyo's I have. rotsa grip!!

Car setup was 225/50R15 DRs in the front, 17s in the back at 28psi, full interior, no strut adjustment, 1/2 tank of gas and 92 octane.

Well the good news, I pulled a best 60' and I didn't break anything on Friday the 13th.

The bad news, I was SLOW tonight I ekked in one 14.4 which was a 14.49 at a mind numbing 94mph with my PB 60' of a 2.12 (prior best was a 2.20). I ran 3 14.5s and one 14.6. My traps were in the super dismal range of 93-94mph and my 60 foots were mostly low 2.2s except for the 2.1. I can't burnout for the life of me with these DRs. Not once did I generate any smoke. I aired them down to 16 psi, went into the water, rolled up out of the box, e-brake on, revved to 4000rpms and quickly released clutch. The tires spun wildly and very quickly I hit the rev limiter. I thought I'd be able to modulate the throttle in 1st to get smoke, but I've learned it's impossible. I need to shift to 2nd while they're spinning. I was launching at my normal 4000-4500rpms and I'd get spin, but they would hook up quicker which I could feel, but I was getting really loud barks into 2nd. When I yanked my DRs, they had absolutely no wear. The new tread "nipples" were still on the certral part of the tire. Whoops. Try again dumbass. It turns out most people recommend a dry burnout or scrubbing and not to go through the water.

I also learned why wasn't I very quick and why my MPHs suffered. My damn RPM switch that activates my butterfly valves on my intake manifold wasn't activating. Apparantly it's never activated since I've installed this new Summit RPM switch a few months back, it's also why I don't hear that cool almost VTEC like switchover sound at 5200rpms anymore. The failed activation of the butterflys costs me a lot of power after 5300rpms and about .25 and 3mph. I got home tonight and reinstalled my other RPM switch along with my "fail safe" manual activation switch incase I don't hear the VTEC sound. This RPM switch flakes out on occasion too (Harlan RPM switch), but at least when it flakes out a red light blinks at me and I simply hit the manual activation switch and I don't blow my 1/4 mile run.

My worst ricer excuse, I have a hunch was wrong with the timing system at the track. I've been there on another occassions when I was consistently .3 and 3mph slower even though I had changed nothing. Hell, prior to them resurfacing the track, the left lane was a constant .3 and 3mph slower than the left, all the time. I bring this up because my friend's Regal GS just wasn't running what it should. He added headers, cam, and pulley to his GS which should have added a significant power increase. The best I saw him run was a 13.9@99mph which is actually slower (ET wise) than before all these new mods. He thought he might be getting his timing pulled from the smaller pulley so he swapped it out for a larger one and I saw him go 14.0 at 9X. something. It just doesnt make sense. He should have been seeing at least 13.6s@102mph+, especially in this weather.

Another friend with a 01 GT Vortech SC was slower too, but it appears he did leave with a new best ET, but not MPH. His prior best was a 12.45@114mph with a 2.0 60' and his best tonight was a 12.39@111mph with a 2.0 60'. His MPHs never broke 111mph where as prior he does 113-115mph.

Ricer excuses aside, I'm very happy to see that my DRs did work even without a burnout. I'll be back and hopefully I've corrected the items I think may have been causing my speed problems. I hope.

Here's what she looks like with the DRs:
