ECU is this for real?

I have a 97 5speed. I want an ecu, has anyone else had the check engine light on. I want more power, but none of these ecus seem to be right for me. and the JET seems to be a real peice. Anyone have some input for me? i need guidance.

Jim Wolf Technlogies ECU
Description: The best ECU out for a MEVI equipped maxima. This ECU can have a specific rev limiter set when ordered (7000 or 7200 usually) and can also be customized for boosted, nitrous or different maf setups. It is only available for 95-96 maximas. But will work in a 97-98 if the model and transmisson match but you will have a check engine light. Typical gains are ~13 hp/ ~15 ft/lb torque, but overall driveability is increased with gains throughout the rpm band.
Cheapest price: $565 from http://www.cattman.com
Technosquare/Geforce ECU
Description: Typically for 1995 and 1996 Manual and Auto Maximas. ECU will work in 97-98, but only if a 95/96 ecu is used but you will have a check engine light. Typical gains are ~13 hp/ ~15 ft/lb torque, but overall driveability is increased with gains throughout the rpm band.
Cheapest price: $380 shipped, see http://forums.maxima.org/showthread.php?t=316919
JET ECU
Description: This is a pretty bad ECU and will not give very good gains at all. Not nearly as much as the JWT or G-force.
Cheapest price: $399 from http://www.jetchip.com

Is what for real? This has been talked to death already for the past 2 years or so. In early 97s there won't be a CEL and in the later 97-98 there will be one. JET is a POS by the way.

The funny thing is that I have a 97 that was built in 96. I bought a 96 ECU and still got the CEL. I don't even care at this point, I just want to get the rev limiter cracked by TS.

I would say June or July of 96 would be the lucky ones.

Also, I have read you can use and O2 simulator to get rid of the CEL.
