You replaced the one further from the front of the car correct? Check for air leaks, aftermarket intake, or exhaust leaks.

I just posted about the exact same problem...I have replace the sensor twice...I am replacing the one on the rear branch of the Y closest to the fire wall....I guess I may do the sea foam thing as well to check for air leaks....mine will trip every thousand miles or so. I am really out of ideas. I also got the knock sensor code as well a while ago with this one, I repalced the KS and the 0409 still came back.

well i am just getting this single code by it self no ks code. and also i havnt felt any power loss. actually when i replaced the last o2 sensor i felt a bit of a power increase so i highly doubt it is the ks.

does anybody else have a clue about this 0409 code

well i got my obd2 scanner today and i checked the code and it ended up being p0153 which is 0413 on the cel method....i also checked the readings on the bank 1 sensor 1 and it was all screwed up so i think i found the cause of the cel but i dont know y the cel method was giving me 0409 instead of 0413....very weird hopefully when i change this sensor no more cel

Please keep me posted on what you find out about when you change the other sensor.

Ok, PO153 is the left bank sensor, the one closer to the radiator.

I guess I need to borrow or have autozone check my codes on a scanner...thats kinda messed up though that the ecu would throw the wrong code.

I will try to get my codes pulled this weekend with a scanner so we can find out if this is a common problem to get false reading using the CEL light.

The ECU will NOT throw a wrong code. Maybe when you replaced the O2 the other was too slow compared to the new one and that's why the CEL was thrown.

I am not positive I understand that....If you put a new fully functional sensor in...why would it throw a code saying the rear bank is still screwed when in fact the problem is being generated in the front bank?

I too have had this code pop up, SES light stays on for a week or so, shuts itself on its own and sometimes repeats until another month .. I remember someone mentioning this o2 sensor is near the cat converter area, or is it somewhere else?
