...too Fast???

What is the maximum speed a person shoudl drive on a donut?

I was traveling from NY to MD friday when about 60 miles out of NY on the NJT i catch a flat on my rear right tire.

This is my first car and the tire had a nipple/bubble on the side. I was informed it was fine to drive on. So Hear this loud humming noise but assume it the trucks around me. I pass the trucks and Humming is still there! So I pull over to shoudler to find a flat

I put donut on in less than 15 mins, I was so mad. Now i knew I shouldnt speed with donut. As im driving (~50 mph) everyone is passing me (which I rarely let happen), So I said FUDGE IT, and continued to MD doing 70-80mph.

When I get to MD, and find place to replace tire It costs me ~$130, and guy proceeds to tell me that my DUNLOP Sport A2's are directional and I have 4 Right tires instead of 2 L & 2 R.

So It was a 235 mile trip - (60 miles with out donut) = 175 on dunot at speed of no less that 70 and no more than 85.

I know I may seem crazy but i absolutely hate holding up traffic, so I have to at least go with the flow, FYI while doin 70-85 mph I was still in the way. Some people are just plain crazy!

Was I going too fast? Like a out of hell!

Unless he has AWD or a limited slip differential, he has no need to worry.

Really

I was just pointing out that those were the only situations where you have to be worried about burning up clutch packs when running shorter than stock tires. On some cars ABS can be affected too, but I don't think the Maxima's ABS brain is that smart.

The LSD cars will have a regular sized spare not a doughnut for exactly the reasons stated -- that's one of the things to look for if you're after an LSD car...

what he said. I have a canadian model maxima, and it has LSD and a full Size Spare. lsd helps you by spinning one wheel faster to catch up with the other wheel. like if it just rained and you make a fast right turn, your inside wheel will spin(like burnout) a little faster so you can turn with out going out of control.

In the owners manual it says to avoid driving over 50mph on the spare and only to drive it long enough to get to a tires shop. Couple months ago a guy driving next to me on a donut had it blow out going like 35-40mph. All I heard was this loud pop so I look back and there's sparks everywhere.
