I'm a little confused when it comes to struts. I have an all stock 96 GXE. I am in desperate need of new struts. The ones on it are shot. I would like to lower it with H&R springs, but can't afford to put new springs on it and struts at the same time. Now, I know stock struts won't work with lowering springs, but is there a strut I can buy that will work with the stock spring and also work with the H&R springs so I don't have to buy struts a second time when I put new springs on? Thanks.

 

just buy some KYB AGXs or Tokico Illuminas whatever you find cheaper

Since your are not going super low, it's not worth getting koni yellows.

 

just want you to realize that you are gonna have to get it alligned twice by doing them separately, so figure that into your budgeting.

 

The Illuminas will give you a more comfortable ride than the AGX's.

 

If you're really on a budget, theres no reason KYB GR2s wouldn't work. They're not real sporty, but at least as good as stock SE struts and very cheap. I use them and am satisfied for the daily commute.
