Need new exhaust, 97 max SE. Suggestions?
Guys,
Bought a modded max. Has an APEXi muffler on it, upgraded Y-pipe, etc. The car seemed even LOUDER than it should even with the mods. I followed a friend to Midas since he was getting some work done and needed a ride-- while I was there I asked them to toss the max. up on the rack so I could take a look.
Looks like I need a new exhaust pipe. On the 1997 I guess it's slightly different than the 1996 and some others. The guy went and got what they had in stock which was a pipe for a 96 max. It was identical, except mine has a small bend by the oxygen sensor and the one he had was stright right there and didn't have the hole in it for the sensor. He said they could still use the pipe and just alter it (he said it's easy to install the thing to hold the sensor).
I didn't want to do it without checking with you all first to see if this would be a bad idea or if there is a better exhaust pipe out there I could buy online and take it somewhere to be installed.
I would also like to get rid of the APEXi muffler. The end/opening is too big for me-- I need to un-pimp the car a little for work purposes. I want to quiet it down yet want to keep as much of the hp as possible. What is the best muffler that might be more quiet and still perform well? I heard WSP has one now that is supposedly more quiet-- anyone have it? What is the link to where to buy it?
Thanks all!

Oh yeah, forgot to mention-- the exhaust pipe on there now is all rusted and had a couple holes in it. Looks like the pipe has the resonator on it and is 4-5' long going all the way to the muffler. That's the setup I need to replace and figured I would replace the muffler at the same time. Perhaps I could even toss the old APEXi in the forsale forum here-- it looks like it's stainless and in good shape, just not for me.

Where is the best place to grab a replacement "B" pipe, and what is a good exhaust that will provide best performance while being quieter than the total-performance types (looking for something between stock and high-performance/loud).

buget has great prices on all their stuff, but i bet you can get really a good price if you have a shop custom bend one for you, that way they could install it and you wouldnt have to wait for shipping from Canada...
